The Allegorical Autobiography of Rollin Hafner • - by Rollin H - Jul 18, 2006 - •
Once upon a time there was a young man; tall and lean with the hair of a 14th century painting. He was unique in all the world, for although nature has a sense of humor, it seldom repeats a joke. This man was a llama tamer and hedgehog philosopher, the sort of man that made his imaginary friends worry about his mental state and occasionally have interventions with him. He liked wild things, like thunderstorms and birdsongs and he knew many of the clouds by their nicknames.
The young man spent most of his days speaking to the animals. He climbed mountains just to tell the sun if it was setting correctly. He could fish and track, and eat wild berries and fruit. But he was civilized; a gentleman even. Good at his studies, he became smart as a fox and wise as an eagle. He could hold infinity in the palm of his hand and eternity in an hour (or sometimes 38 minutes).
One day the young man decided to obtain an occupation. He went to an employer and said "I am Rollin Hafner. I can work a pencil like a magic wand and I have dreams when I am awake. Give me a job!"
But the employer replied, "This is the butcher's shop, and I only need butchers." So the young man tried the next employer. He tried the Baker, and the Candlestick Maker, but no one wanted to give him a job.
Then the young man traveled through the desert, the valley of the firebird, and here he found a guild by the name of Cheyenne. The members of this guild were something like magicians except that they dressed better and were less frequently burnt at the stake. The young man went to the magicians and said "Give me a job." "OK" said the Cheyennites. So the young man joined them and there was great feasting and celebration.
Post from Meet Your Development Team:
- "Greetings and Salutations to all.
- You may call me Rollin Hafner if you wish, though names have never been much a friend to me. I lend my talents to creating a myriad of properties for the Stargate world. Fire extinguishers and ancient temples are all in day's work for me, though forging the flora and fauna of alien worlds has a particular interest to me. Though I do not own a TV (it's a passing fad anyway) I have been slowly but inevitably been watching through the Stargate series, and have found a certain appeal in the struggle of witty human agents struggling against an evil parasitic theocracy bent on the enslavement of the galaxy. It reminds me a bit of high school, but with better special effects. Video games have never been a particular forte of mine, but creating them has found a captivation for me which far surpasses the playing of them. Plus I get paid. I hope to bring a beauty to Stargate Worlds which it will take many years for someone to create a computer program to match and replace me for. Well, if you're reading all this you are probably anticipating the release of the game, so I will get back to work.
- P.S.- It's all real. The Stargate, the aliens, everything, only they won't admit it. It actually exists and our game is most likely going to be used to train humanity to fight against the impending alien menace working its way across the known universe. Ever seen the movie "The Last Starfighter"? Just like that only with cooler weapons. But don't tell them I told you."
