Post from Meet Your Development Team:
- "I'm Katie Postma, people online know me as "Khatie". I am the Lead Community Manager at CME, and the Community Manager for Stargate Worlds.
- I have been a gamer since Pong. My brother and I would spend HOURS playing this at our cousins' place. Then when we got our first Atari system, and I played Adventure, my life changed. TVs weren't just for shows! I was part of an online community as early as 1990, first on BBS's then on Freenet. I was nominated to represent my city as the Freenet Rep and declined due to a new job and imminent move.
- The first game I ever played on a personal computer (besides Chess and Solitaire) was Myst. I suddenly felt story and adventure and beauty could be shared in a whole new medium and I wanted more. At the same time, my husband and his friends would network two computers together and play DOOM against each other. This showed me how much more exciting computer games could be when shared with, or played against, another person.
- during the release of 5 titles: Uru: Ages Beyond Myst, Uru: To D'ni, Uru: The Path of the Shell, Myst IV: Revelation, and Myst V: End of Ages.
- I began work on Stargate Worlds at CME as soon as my job was over at Myst Worlds (the series of games came to an end...) and although I had seen the Stargate movie and only a handful of SG1 Episodes, I soon had gotten every season on DVD and watched every episode, in order of air date, with GREAT enthusiasm.
- My goal was to have an appreciation for the show and the fans. What happened was, I became a fan of the series!!
- I currently live in London, Ontario, Canada (go Knights!) with my husband and two young children, and I telecommute with our main office. I'm considering a move into Phoenix to be there in person, though. I never thought I'd be this excited about any game, let alone an MMO based on an amazing television series.
- MMOs I have to be satisfied with until SGW is out: EVE-online, Guild Wars, WoW.
- To be part of this is a dream come true, really, and the development team and fans have ALL been amazing, fun to be around and a joy to work with.
- I am really thrilled to be on this development journey with all of you."
