Instances
From Stargate Worlds Wiki (SGW)
Stargate Worlds will contain instanced zones. However they will only be used when it makes sense, particularly for truly epic missions.[1] Most of the play space will be open with only 20% or so being instanced.[2] (As of 18.2.2008 Chris Klug stated, that the amount of instances (in square 'footage') are roughly 10% mission instances and 10% world instances)[3] A form of instancing will also be used to progress the storyline, as players progress through their quests worlds will change. An instance of these worlds will be used for all the players at that point in the storyline. How grouping for those at different points in the storyline will be accomplished in these zones has not yet been revealed. Instances are spread throughout the level range.[4] The end game instances will not be as gear-dependent as those in other MMO's. [5]
Some instances will be aboard spaceships.[6]
There are no 'save points' in instances. Instances in SGW function pretty much like instances in other MMOs, meaning that while the group is in the instance, that instance is active. If the group all leaves, the instance dissolves. You can't 'save' the instance state, say, half-way through and pick it up later. You'd need to re-start it.[7]
