Chris Klug started his career with Simulations Publications, Inc., in 1981, where he assisted with the design of Universe (a sci-fi role playing game) and the 2nd edition of DragonQuest (a fantasy RPG and winner of Game of the Year Award). He also designed Horror Hotel (something's lurking in the shadows of an old Victorian guest house) and Damocles Mission (a sci-fi strategy game). While at SPI he also edited the role playing section of Ares magazine. When TSR bought SPI in 1982, Chris and the rest of the SPI staff moved on to form Victory Games. There Chris headed up the role playing games division, and designed the James Bond 007 RPG (a winner of Game of the Year award as well).
After leaving Victory Games, Chris became a freelance computer game designer and has worked for SegaSoft, TSR, Hasbro Interactive, 3W, THQ, Simon and Schuster Interactive, Target Games, h2o Interactive, Gizmo Games, Westwood Studios and GT Interactive. Some of his computer game credits include Star Trek DS9: Dominion Wars, Europa Universalis, Diamond Dreams Baseball, and Aidyn Chronicles: First Mage, Duke Nukem: Time to Kill, Open Fire, and Earth & Beyond.
For eight years, Chris was Vice President and Chief Creative Officer for Diamond Dreams, Inc., a company dedicated to developing and marketing world-class computer baseball simulations.
Chris taught Game Design and Production at Carnegie Mellon University's Entertainment Technology Center. Chris is also member of the Writer's Guild of America, West. Chris was a keynote speaker at the Second International Conference on Entertainment Computing hosted by Carnegie Mellon University in May of 2003.
Post from Meet Your Development Team:
- "Hellooooo
- I'm Chris Klug, and I'm the Creative Director. That means I'm in charge of everything game-system and game-content wise. I've been working in the games industry for 25 years. Many people remember me as the Lead Designer of the James Bond 007 pen-and-paper game in the 80's. Many other people know me as the creator of Diamond Dreams, an internet baseball simulation. My last game gig before I came to Cheyenne was Creative Director of Earth & Beyond, which, as I have come to realize lately, was as much an admired critical hit as it was a box-office failure (at least as far as EA was concerned). As I interview content team candidates, many of them talk about their enjoyment of E&B's story, which was a particular passion of mine.
- In addition to my work in games, I am a playwright and photographer, and spend quite a bit of spare time staring at guitar catalogs, trying to figure out whether to buy a Telecaster or Gibson SG. Any thoughts?
- What drew me to this project was a) that is was an MMO, and b) that it was attached to a TV show that would be on the air at the same time. That intersection is fascinating to me.
- This game is gonna be great! I can't wait to play it."
